Burley had a moral boosting win away at Garforth (23-20) to lift them out of the bottom 3 in the league. The second team had a difficult away trip to Halifax resulting in a 17-3 loss.

Burleys EDF adventure came to an end against Old Otliensians with a narrow 10-3 loss. The second team had the narrowest of victories (21-20) against Roundhegians.

The last two weeks have seen two totally different performances from Burley, first up was a poor away loss in the league to a strong Northallerton side, this was then followed by an excellent home win in a league and cup double header against Hemsworth. The second team have also had a mixed bag of results over the last two weeks, a good home win against Old Brods was followed by a loss at the hands of Hemsworth seconds.
EDF Junior Vase

We have been drawn against fellow Yorkshire 4 team Old Otliensians in round 5 of the EDF Junior Vase. The fixture is due to be played away from home on 8th December.

Burley are through to round 5 of the EDF Junior vase following an extra time 13-10 win against Aireborough. The second team also faced Aireborough this week, losing away from home.

This week saw Burley come out at the right end of another tight game beating Garforth 15-12 in the league. The second team didn't fare quite so well, losing on their trip away against Garforth II.

Burley suffered yet another narrow away loss in the league, this time to Old Modernians 10-6.
The second team playing their first game in four weeks also suffered a loss at the hands of the same opponents.

Burley made the long trip to Hornsea missing 11 regular first team players expecting a very difficult afternoon. After an excellent performance from the numerous 2nd team players making the step up Burley were unlucky to end up on the wrong end of a tight 21-19 loss. Again due to the number of 2nd team players turning out for the 1st team they were unable to field a squad this week.

The first team followed last weeks victory in the cup with a league loss to Old Otliensians. Again due to lack of player availability we were unable to field a second team. Can all players make every effort to attend training and let Jamie and Jim know asap if you are available for selection.

Our away trip to Birkenhead, with a somewhat depleted team, for the 3rd round of the EDF Junior Vase ended with and excellent 19-8 victory. Unfortunatly due to the number of players unavailable and those promoted to the first team, the seconds were unable to field a team this week. Hopefully normal service will resume next week.

A quick reminder for first team players that next saturdays game ( 13th October) is a coach trip away to Birkenhead to face Parkonians in the 3rd round of the EDF Junior Vase. The meet time is 11.15. Can everyone let Jamie know your availability asap. Don't forget training on Tuesday and Thursday as we have plenty of work to get through.

This week saw both Burley teams losing to local rivals Bramley Phoenix. The second team featured another 2 new players with 22 Players in total available for this fixture. Hopefully with a bit more time together results will start to go the second teams way!

Burley recorded their first league win of the season by beating Stocksbridge 26-0. The Second team are starting to come together with an excellent performance, although a losing one (7-12), against Old Rishworthians which also featured five new players.
EDF Junior Vase

Fixture details for round 3 of the EDF Junior Vase are now available on the RFU website. Burley have been drawn away to Parkonians from the South Lancs/Cheshire Division 3. The fixture is due to be played on 13th October.

This saturdays 2nd team fixture is a home match against Old Rishworthians. This is a re-arranged fixture due to original opponents Wibsey being unable to field a team. Can all second team players contact Jim Griffin to let him know your availability.

Burley travelled the short distance up to Horsforth to play Yarnbury II in a re-arranged fixture. The game ended in a 12-12 draw.
The second team got their first win of the season beating Knaresborough II 58-27.
EDF Junior Vase

Burley are through to round 3 of the EDF Junior Vase as our opponents for round 2, West Park Warriors, were unable to field a team.

This weekend saw loses for both Burley teams. The first team lost at the hands of current Yorkshire 4 leaders Hessle 31-19.

The first league match off the season saw Burley lose to Leeds Corinthians 21-10. The second team also suffered a defeat to Corinthians II 33-7.
EDF Junior Vase

According to the RFU website, we will be playing our second round match in the EDF Junior Vase at home to West Park Warriors. The game is due to be played on 22nd September which will result in the league fixture against Knaresborough being re-scheduled.

Saturdays match saw Burley come from behind to secure a great victory in the first round of the EDF Junior Vase (Match report).
Although they were on the wrong end of the result against Aireborough III (33-3) it was great to see a burley second team take to the field. Hopefully the seconds will get stronger as the season goes on.
