This season's 2nd XV Captain is a versatile player, able to play a variety of positions well and lead from the front with bravery and commitment. Best known for his murderous crash tackling (one such example last season putting an opponent at right angles to himself) Karl is a reliable last line of defence and also dangerous with the ball in hand, especially when linking up with the backs to counterattack from deep; Karl will happily punish wayward kicking all afternoon.
