Stanley Rodillians vs. Burley 21/10/06
Burley traveled to Stanley Rodillians seeking their fourth league victory. Playing down the slight slope the visitors were soon into their stride. Forward pressure sucked in the Rodillians defence and a long pass from Fly Half Richard Parrish to Neil Robinson had the winger strolling in at the corner. With the home side unable to cope with a rampant Burley, two further tries were scored, by Flanker Dan Johnson and flying French winger Yann Le Beau. With twenty minutes gone a big win looked inevitable but instead of continuing with the same game plan Burley played into their opponents hands who slowed the game down to their pace. After 65 minutes Burley came to life, their Rumanian Full Back Martin Zielinski carved out an opening for winger Robinson who scored a fine try near the corner. Now remembering how to open up the Rodillians defence Burley struck again. Forward surges by former Eton scholar, Flanker James Palfry-Smith and 50 year old Hooker Peter Leeman resulted in Robinson going in for a fine hat trick, Zielinski converting to make the final score 27-0. A convincing win, and with previously unbeaten Old Rishworthians coming unstuck at Harrogate Pythons, Burley find themselves topping the Division.
