Burley traveled up the A1 to take on Thirsk in a rearranged League fixture, the home side having been unable to raise a side on the 6th Jan. In blustery conditions Burley took hold of the game from the off, driving the ball into their opponents in a display of controlled, aggressive, efficient Rugby. Scoring at regular intervals hat tricks by Centre Andrew Bissett, Winger Yann Le Beau, two by Winger Neil Robinson, and one each from Centre Henry Bisson, Fly Half Rich Parrish, and a first club try by Scrum Half Mark Walton. Reward for his excellent season. With Parrish converting five a final score line of 65-0 has to be a satisfying result particularly in view of the conditions. With the backs scoring all the points recognition of the work done by the forwards was joint M.O.M. awards given to Flankers Dan Johnson and James Palfrey-Smith. The only slight blot on the day was Burley stalwart John Sanderson, in a display of petulance, being removed of his Linesman duties (by an over fussy Referee). John has always been an advocate of touchline discipline and has promised to keep his enthusiasm in check.
